Within the framework of the European project JustNature (https://justnatureproject.eu/), a green wall was constructed that occupies parts of the northern and eastern facades of the municipal parking building (Address: Peridou 22 and Ipsilandon, Chania).  The wall has been covered with jasmine and aims to provide multiple benefits. The green wall is expected to improve the air quality in the area, contribute positively to the well-being and mental health of residents, employees, shop owners, and people transiting in the area, and improve the area's visual aesthetics.

To monitor the contribution of the green wall towards improving air quality, improving thermal comfort and reducing CO2, a network of sensors has been installed, and data is available to the public. The sensors are positioned at points A-D (see picture) and measure:

Points An1, An3, Ae1, Ae3: Parking wall surface temperature, particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), CO2, air temperature and humidity in front of the green wall. The indices e and n refer to the east and north sides of the building, respectively, and the numbers refer to the corresponding floor.

Points Bn1 and Bn3: Parking wall surface temperature, particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), CO2, air temperature and humidity. There is no green wall at these points, and they are used as control points. The index n refers to the north side of the building and the numbers to the corresponding floor.

Point D: Particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5, PM10), NO, NO2, O3, SO2.

Point E: Air temperature and humidity, wind direction and wind speed.

Point H: Vertical and horizontal solar radiation.
