Dr. Denia Kolokotsa, Professor and Dean at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete is the head of Energy Management in the Built Environment Research (EMBER) lab. She has a Physics background from the National Kapodestrian University of Athens, as well as a MSc. degree in Environmental Physics from UOA, a MSc. degree in Architecture-Environmental Design and Engineering from the University College London and her PhD from the Department of Electronics and Computer engineering of the Technical University of Crete. Her research interests include health and well-being in urban areas, monitoring and measurement for energy management, indoor environment, energy efficiency in buildings, solar energy and cool materials, distributed energy management systems, artificial intelligence, building automation, etc. She is Scientific Coordinator of 8 International Research Projects and participated in more than 30 International Research Projects as team leader or researcher. She is Editor in Chief of the Solar Energy Advances of Elsevier and Editor of Energy and Buildings Journal of Elsevier. She is the author of more than 100 papers published in high impact scientific journals and conference proceedings. She is included in the list of the “World’s Top 2% Scientists” published by Stanford University.

Kostas Gobakis received his PhD at the school of Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Crete with main research focus on cool materials. He received his degree in Physics from the University of Crete (UOC) and Master degree, titled “Prediction using Artificial Neural Networks and geographic representation using Geographic Information System (GIS) of the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon” from the Technical University of Crete, Department of Electronics & Computer Engineering. He involved in various EU projects (ZeroPlus, SmartGEMS, CampIT, Green@Hospital) dealing with energy efficiency in buildings and districts. Kostas has significant experience in developing integrative web platforms (ZeroPlus, Think Nature) for monitoring energy and environmental data as well as in developing advanced predictive controls for buildings and districts.

Nikos Kampelis (1981) has received a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Brighton followed by a MSc in Technology and Innovation Management at the University of Sussex and a MSc in Operational Research at the Technical University of Crete. He has worked for Lambeth Council in London, the private sector in Greece and as a research assistant at the University of Crete. He has one scientific publication in an international journal, 2 announcements at international conferences and 1 at a national level. Professionally Nikos has been involved in a number of technical energy related projects concerning the development of sustainable action plans, photovoltaic systems design and construction, energy audits, investments evaluation, green roofs etc. He is an accredited evaluator of investment plans in the context of SME Programme of NSRF 2007-13 and the Investment Law 3908/2011 of the Hellenic Republic.

Angeliki Mavrigiannaki holds a Diploma in Architecture from the National Technical University of Athens and an MSc in Environmental Design of Buildings from Cardiff University. She has been involved in EU funded projects since 2016 and has completed a PhD at Technical University of Crete on integrated and smart design for zero energy buildings and communities. Her research interests include implementation of innovative sustainable solutions from the building to the city scale for energy conservation, climate change mitigation and human comfort. She is a LEED Green Associate.

Katerina Lilli is a Civil Engineer (Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, 2014) and she holds an MSc in Environmental Management, Sustainable Energy and Climate Change (Technical University of Crete, Greece, 2016). In addition, she is a PhD candidate (School Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Crete) mainly focusing on nature-based solutions research for facing a wide range of challenges, such as unsustainable urbanization and related human health issues. Since December 2016, she is a Research Fellow in EMBER Lab. Her research interests include building & built environment energy, green buildings, indoor environmental quality, energy management systems, performance indicators and integration of smart systems in buildings and urban environment. Furthermore, she has experience in building energy modelling and techno economic analysis for energy upgrade alternatives.

Elisavet Tsekeri (Kalamata, 1992) is an Environmental Engineer with postgraduate studies in Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Energy and Climate Change, in Technical University of Crete. Currently, she is a PhD student in Environmental Engineering, focusing on human health and wellbeing in the urban built environment. Her main science field is the Energy savings in buildings, the environmental measurements, the urban environment, and the climate change.

Filippos Lygerakis (1997) is an Environmental Engineer, who graduated from Technical University of Crete in 2020 and holds an MSc in Environmental Management, Sustainable Energy and Climate Change from Technical University of Crete, obtained in 2021. He is currently a PhD Candidate in School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering in Technical University of Crete and focuses on knowledge graphs’ application in near zero energy buildings and neighborhoods. His research interests are around Zero Energy Buildings & Neighborhoods, smart energy systems and knowledge graphs in built environment.

Konstantinos – Andreas Kotenidis is an Environmental Engineer with an MSc in Environmental Engineering which is obtained at Technical University of Crete in 2021. Now is a PhD Candidate in Environmental Engineering with much focus on smart cities.
